On Wednesday night 7:45pm, live from The Emirates Arena, we are in for a treat and hopefully a bagful of goals when Arsene Wenger's mesmerising Arsenal host Bulgarian Champions Ludogorates in the third round of group games within the Champions League.
The Gunners have flourished in the opening handful of games this campaign. They started with a thrilling 4-3 defeat to Liverpool, who's season hasn't gone unnoticed. Since this brave performance, the London reds haven't looked back, bagging joint first place with Man City in the league and possibly Liverpool, depending their result against Man United on Monday night. Arsenal are a teasing 11/2 to be crowned champions at the end of the campaign with betting firm Betway.
In Arsenal's dominance they have amounted 19 superb points from a possible 24. Their last six outings have treated us to a wonderful display of scoring ability, bagging 17 goals. The foot that scored the most eye-catching of these belongs to Englishman Theo Walcott. He has exploded of late, scoring seven in just eight appearances and can be found with Boylesports to score first at 9/2, or for the more cautious punter, anytime with Betfair at 6/5.
Walcott has surely answered the questions of critics with his most successful start to a campaign, finding himself joint third on the top goal scorers list so far and only two goals behind leader Diego Costa. Theo can be found at a massive 33/1 with firm Paddy Power to be named top league goal scorer at the end of the season.
Bulgarian Champions Ludogorates will at least have a smile on their faces when they arrive in London this week, as they too have hit the ground running at these early stages of this season. They have manged to score in their previous 18 competitive outings, which goes back to May.
The Bulgarians have seven league wins from nine attempts, scoring 25 in the process. A more noteworthy achievement of late was the one-each Champions League draw with French dynamos PSG, where Ludogorates showed they are no push overs and can boogie with the big-boys.
I feel Ludogorates are a team on the up, they lie second domestically, with a game in hand. They have impressive names such as Jonathan Cafu, Wanderson, Keseru and Marcelinho, who have all scored four so far. However, I still worry that they will fall seriously short against The Gunners in London. A bet that caught my eye was for the first half to produce more goals at 23/10 with Coral. At shorter odds you may fancy the second half, which can be snatched at 21/20, also with Coral.
Tips
Walcott first goal scorer
1st half to produce most goals
